Upcoming Online Events in April with Outcomers Dundalk

Please see information below from Outcomers Dundalk, on their upcoming events. If you have any questions, please contact Lorna Costello on [email protected] or 0861625030.

Dr. Brinkmann is a gender psychologist based in West Cork. The sessions she facilitates are not medical sessions, they are spaces for trans young people and their parents to meet others in similar situations to discuss challenges and joys in their life and to ask Lisa questions. These have been very successful since they began in 2020, and the demand has continued to grow. As they are on zoom, they are not restricted to one geographical area. They are free of charge.

If you know any trans and non-binary young people or parents of trans and non-binary young people who would like to join this space, they can register for the event on the below links. If young people would like their youth worker to attend the session, you are welcome to join along with the young person.

Two Traveller Training Programme Opportunities Available for Youth and Community Organisations

Involve Youth Services specialises working with the Travelling Community and delivers two different trainings, STATUS (Supporting Travellers Advance through Universal Services) and Traveller Culture and Identity Programme (TCIP) both trainings can be delivered in person or online depending on the needs of your organisation.

Traveller Culture and Identity Programme (TCIP)

The Traveller Culture and Identity Programme (TCIP) is designed to inform and educate participants about aspects of Irish Traveller History, Irish Traveller Culture and the issues which affect Irish Travellers Today. It is designed to be a useful and creative resource for Travellers and non-Travellers alike. It is an attempt to represent Irish Travellers and their lives in a balanced and non-stereotypical way, using material which has been developed and approved by a steering group consisting of a majority of Irish Travellers, from a range of different backgrounds, genders, ages and LGBTQI+ status. Therefore, it is our belief that Irish Travellers should deliver the TCIP. Furthermore, it would be impossible to represent every detail and variety of Irish Traveller history, culture and life today within the scope of this programme.

Time: This training can be delivered as a half day or a full day training.

Fee: Travel expenses

STATUS (Supporting Travellers Advance through Universal Services)

The purpose of the STATUS Toolkit is to provide a Quality Assurance (QA) Framework whereby youth and community work organisations can engage in a process of self-evaluation and agree a Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP) to support their youth work practices to be more inclusive of members of the Traveller community. This will help to achieve the best possible outcomes for the engagement, participation and retention of young people from the Traveller community in their projects and activities

Time: 1hr introduction workshop and then on-going support from the STATUS team ( min quarterly, but as required). You can book a workshop just for your organisation on a day that suits you or join in on one of our training dates from Google doc link below.

Fee: Free (funded by the DCEDIY)

Training dates: link to book https://forms.gle/a3CxAeYG3bPPuKNT6
