Communities calling time on unregulated alcohol delivery services: Concern grows over supply to Under 18s. Media & stakeholder briefing, June 18th
/in News /by Jenny QuinnThe Irish Community Action on Alcohol Network is leading one of a growing number of campaigns across Europe seeking better regulation of drink delivery services. On June 18th, you are invited to join us for a one-hour media and stakeholder briefing about the campaign and why Government need to regulate for drink deliveries as a matter of urgency.
There is now a diverse mix of retailers offering alcohol for home delivery, it’s no longer just the big supermarkets and off licenses, but app-based retailers like Deliveroo and Just Eat, who have delivery arrangements with restaurants and off licenses. A simple click of the mouse throws up a myriad of options for unregulated and unlicensed vendors, who are advertising 24 hour dial a drink services.
Having completed a series of political briefings with Oireachtas members we are now hosting this one-hour event to raise awareness with media around an important social issue which has largely remained under the radar, growing steadily throughout the pandemic.
