Launch of 1st National Children First Awareness Week
Everyone has a responsibility to keep children safe –
Today marks the start of the first ever national Children First Awareness Week (1st – 7th November 2021).
The aim of the week is to raise awareness of Children First and remind wider society, including organisations working with children and young people, of their collective responsibilities to keep children safe in our communities.
The initiative will be officially launched later this morning by the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, Roderic O’Gorman, on behalf of the statutory Children First Inter-Departmental Implementation Group (CFIDIG). Representatives from An Garda Síochána, the HSE and Tusla will also be present at the launch.
As Covid restrictions continue to ease, it is timely to remind everyone of the general, and specific roles they play in this important area.
As part of the campaign, a new government website has been created — gov.ie/childrenfirst — where users will find all the key information about Children First. A series of information videos featuring a Garda, public health nurse and social worker will further spread awareness of the work being done across society to keep children safe. These resources will be supported by an advertising campaign across digital and mainstream media platforms, and traditional media reporting.
